13th Nov: Puntang (In aid of Ulster Cancer Foundation) Raises £2,000.
The aim of Puntang was to raise money for the Ulster Cancer Foundation
and to create awareness for testicular cancer among young men.
Up to 50-60 men every year in Northern Ireland develop testicular cancer and facts tell us that this arises mostly in young men aged between 20 and 35.
The night held on Friday 21st November @ Milk, Belfast was a huge success as over £2,000 was raised for the charity.
Local DJ's on the night (who all Provided their services free of charge) included Mark Jackson, Timmy Stewart, Mark Bell, Steve Simpson, Connor MaGavock, Gavin Wilson, David Mc Auley, Jay Kay, Pete Snodden and of course are very own Mr Cargo.
Split over two floors the cream of Belfast's DJ's supplied the tunage from 8pm until late.
Hopefully this will be the first of many such nights.
Chris would like to thank everyone that came down and supported the event.
13th Nov: The DJ Mag Top 100 DJ's results are in.
With 61,529 votes cast the 2003 Top 100 DJs has been by far the biggest poll ever.
You, together with clubbers from 120 different countries worldwide voted to decide the most popular spinners on the planet right now, and for the second year in a row, Tiesto is the undisputed people's choice.
Trance DJs dominate
The dutch master holds his crown despite stiff competition from Paul Van Dyk and Armin Van Buuren, in second and third place. European trance DJs dominate the chart, with hard dance and progressive jocks also make a good showing.
There are plenty of fresh faces in the new Top 100, but the big names of house also hold their ground, and techno DJs perform particularly strongly this year too.
Unfortunately Chris didnt make it in this year, maybe next time though..
The poll features 33 climbers, 40 fallers, 19 new entries, six re-entries and two non movers.

with a shopping basket full of release’s and remixes; in fact his latest single 'Visions' on
Play Recordings is already gaining heavy support from the likes of Steve Lawler.
Miss Flavelle is the newcomer to the club scene, although she does present the drive time show on
Downtown radio and has spun in Larry’s Piano Bar, she will be laying down some Funk and Soul to

22 July: Reviews for Chris Cargo "Visions". Forthcoming on Play Records, July 28th
DJ Magazine
Play Recordings celebrate their 10th release with a groovy little mover
from Chris Cargo. The side of choice here has to be the dub though, for
dropping the curious vocal and throwing a bit of clout behind the FX.
It’s on the darker side of things, but it maintains a decent energy from
start to finish and grabs the imagination of the crowd, leaving them to
work in and around it.

M8 Magazine
One of my favourite Irish djs, Chris Cargo has earned himself a huge
reputation worldwide for his quality releases on Choo Choo. This is his
first release for Play, and it's no less than you'd expect from an artist of
his calibre. The vocal mix of 'Visions' takes a housier approach, but my
preferred mix is the Dirty Dub, a heads-down prog affair with crisp tribal
percussion and cool stabs that really get you into the groove. Definitely
another big one for Chris Cargo and the excellent Play Recordings.
M7/M8 (Dave Begg)
BBM Magazine
Visions is Belfast's very own Chris Cargo's first release for Play
Recordings. It's a bit of a departure from his usual proggy-techy-housey
style but both cuts are excellent nonetheless. Side A is a housey type
affair with vocals and funky stabs coupled with trademark Cargo-esque
percussion. The B side is 'Cargo's Dirty Dub' and it does exactly what
it says on the tin. Chris dirties things up nicely for this track which
keeps its eye firmly on the dance floor whilst retaining the funk and
groove of the original mix. Excellent stuff from one of Ireland's finest
dj's and producers.
RATING 8/10 KEV TRAYNOR
Big Shot Magazine (USA)
Chris has numerous releases on labels such as Choo Choo & Automatic.
The original mix has jazzy undertones and a female vocal. The dub mix
introduces some cool metallic robotic chatter. The highlight here is a
huge metal chunk of something chased by a smaller but equally important
synth sound.

07th July: Sasha and Renaissance reunite!
For the first time in 9 years, Sasha and Renaissance are finally to reunite this year.
Sasha will play for Renaissance at Pacha on two separate dates this summer as part of Pacha’s
30th anniversary celebrations. Sasha playing for Renaissance is quite special as this was the
brand that brought him and Digweed together as residents in the early 90’s.
Together the duo mixed the now legendary compilation 'Renaissance Vol.1' after the club hooked
the duo up. This party on September 5th could become one of the most eagerly anticipated
Renaissance nights in history.
Also playing on the night are Pete Tong and Marcus James.
Friday 1st August will see the first Renaissance party at Pacha and will feature Steve Lawler,
Pete Tong and Murk.
07th July: Chris play's The Basement Bar, Belfast 19th July
On the night Chris will be spinning a Disco/House set exclusively for Imprint.
Over the '12th' holiday period everywhere seems to shut up shop.
Need somewhere to go then why not check out Belfast's newest night, Imprint
Beginning on Saturday 19th July and continuing monthly thereafter at the Basement Bar, facing
the city hall. The night promise's a mixture of Funk, Soul, Disco and House in the intimate
surroundings of the Basement. Providing the soundtrack for the evening will be Lisa Flavelle,
Sandra Gourley and Chris Cargo. Sandra regularly spin's in Belfast clubs like Bar Red and the
bar in Shine. Lisa is the newcomer to the clubscene, although she does present the drive time
show on Downtown radio she will be laying down some Funk and Soul to begin proceedings.
Admission on the night is £5, and opening hours are 9pm til late.
11th June: Cargo Mix to be played on Ministry Of Sound's Website Radio
This Friday the 13th of June, the Ministry Of Sound website will play one of Chris' mixes on their
Websites radio show. The show is between 4-6pm GMT & the mix should start around 4:30pm.
There may also be a Telephone interview before or after the mix if Chris can be at a phone.
As he is in Mexico at the moment, the time difference may be a problem, however Chris is
going to do his very best to do the interview.
Dont forget to tune in.
03rd June: Cargo celebarates Play's 10th...
Chris Cargo's 'Visions' is the track that puts Play Recordings into double figures, that's right,
PLY010 is still on promotion and should hopefully hit the streets around the end of June and
what a piece of finely crafted house music it is too.
The original has already made it onto the Harlequin records compilation CD mixed Dj Rolando
resident at Space in Miami, the club that hosts Tenaglia's marathon conference set.
The CD only available in the US can by won by you on Play Recordings' Official Website.
'Visions', both in it's original and darker dub form has already picked up some amazing support
and reviews. Confirmed plays have come in from the likes of Tenaglia, Digweed, Lawler,
Kingkade, Greg Vickers et al and some great reviews in BPM (Ireland) & M8 magazine so
far and it's still early days, for the full press release please hit the press
page in 2 weeks time!!
1st May: Tenaglia set for Space in Ibiza
After his exclusive residencies at the club in 2000 and 2001, Mr. Tenaglia returns to play at Space
twice this year. Last year, he played at the club and also filled in once for John Digweed when he fell ill.
The complete summer line-up at Space will be very special indeed, but one thing’s for sure - they know
how to start the season so watch out for the party on June 1st featuring some of the world’s best DJs
including Carl Cox, John Digweed and Steve Lawler!
Tenaglia won a Dancestar Award for 'Best US club night' in Miami last month. His ‘Be Yourself’ nights
at Arc in NYC are still going strong as ever, and Danny and his crew were also in Miami to do their
annual ‘Be Yourself’ event for the Winter Music Conference. And as usual his marathon Miami set was
awesome.
You can catch Danny at Space in Ibiza this year. This is what he had to say about the club: "It’s the most
feel good terrace in the world, and when I fly out of Ibiza I feel excited to go home, but always
ready to return again!".

Well it's that time of year again when the Easter Bunny arrives or you could check out one of the many
great nights happening over the Easter weekend throughout Ireland.
First up Mr Cargo will be joined by Timmy Stewart and Gavin Wilson for Funkt at the Edge on Easter
Sunday 20th April. Lush in Portrush has Lottie on Easter Saturday and King Unique and John Carter on

If none of this fancies you why not check out the Godfather of all things deep and funky Kerri Chandler
at the Savoy Theatre in Cork, also on Easter Sunday.
Emm plenty to choose from there me thinks!!
1st Apr: Creamfields UK Launch Party at Nation!
Its getting round to that time of year folks, festival time and the one that rounds off the summer
(summer I know), yes, it's Creamfields time again.
Creamfields is returning to Merseyside on Saturday August 23rd Bank Holiday, the line up will
be announced in the coming weeks. To launch this years dance festival, the Cream team return
to the warm embrace of their northern home Nation in Liverpool on Saturday May 24th Bank Holiday.
2003 will see Creamfields unfold into other territories across the globe, with events confirmed
in Argentina, Poland, Turkey and the Czech Rep. To represent this, on May 24th they are bringing
together an array of international talent, including one of last years 'Prague' highlights
Michael Burrian who will be performing in the Main Room alongside Tall Paul, DJ Montana
and Paul Kershaw. The hard dance family are well catered for with a recipe of fast and furious
beats for this years festival arena. Delivering on the night will be BK, Andy Farley, Lisa Lashes,
Marco V, Guffy and James Lawson.
But, if you prefer the gentler groove of pure ghetto funk, then the Annexe is where you'll be.
Representing Turkey is UFUK who will be tearing the place up alongside Polish duo Fresh vs Patrick
Hagal (Mystic Project), and doing it for the brits Louis Edwards (Cream Sonyminidisc Resident 2003)
and Nic Fanciulli!

27th Mar: Holden and Cargo for Lush!
Described by Pete Tong as the man of the moment James Holden drops into Lush on Saturday
April 12th. At the age of 23 James has made an impact on the dance music scene that many could only
dream of. With a string of outstanding original tracks and remixes for the likes of New Order it's easy to
see why.
Holden has started a new record label called 'Border Community'. A brand new 'Leftfield' label under the
A&R management of James, managed by Andy Jarrod / 3 Beat Label Management and distributed
exclusively through Amato.
After some difficulty last year trying to launch 'Easy Acces', Holden's imprint in conjunction with Silver
Planet, James can now really push back the boundaries with his more underground and left-of-centre
productions. The first release is pencilled in for early June,
Once again this year Lush was nominated for the UK's best club award in the Muzik Magazine awards
narrowly loosing out to Fabric. With a major refurbishment and spanking new sound system Lush
continue to set the standards for others to follow. Opening times on the night are 9pm until 2am.
Also in April at Lush is DJ Lottie on the 19th April and John Carter on Easter Monday.
